I think that on a stock front end, with 165-15 tires, if you slip your hand straight in, palm down, sliding against the top of the wheel opening, your fingers will just slip across the top of the tire. > Or could this be some sagging part on the front end, bad shock, two > different shocks? It could have been lowered unevenly, or just worked on and not set back quite right, but the most likely possibility is that one side has sagged a bit more than the other. This MAY be due to a torsion bar that has a crack started in it. Does it do any kind of creaking when you go over certain bumps very slowly? My 71 has such a creak for several years before one of its bars broke. I hadn't thought much of it until afterwards, when I noticed that the creak was gone following the replacement. It is not likely to be a shock, but if the shocks were pressureized and the pressure has leaked out of one, then this COULD be it. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
