I use a spark plug socket that is/was made by Champion Spark plug Co.
Instead of a rubber insert, it has a magnetic insert, and I don't think
I have ever dropped a plug down in the hole.
BTW, I use a 3" 3/8" extension, an adapter to 1/4" drive, and a 1/4"
flex ratchet to change plugs in an air cooled engine.
