Al, have you washed the car recently? I'm only asking because sometimes after I wash mine it'll leak water from about the middle of the pan, around the tunnel area. It happens when I have the rear of the car lower than the front. And there is a water drain there. I just haven't figured out how the water gets there though, although I suspect some of it comes from the fresh air drains and something else(I don't know what). As for the wires you'll have to wait for someone smarter, as the only thing I can think of might be for the rear window defog relay. Jim, or Russ, would this be part of the on board diognostic system used by VW ? I hope this helps you out.
