I don't think I have ever had a probelm doing it that way. It goes RF-LF, until the air is gone, and the fronts are solid. Then go to the RR-LR. Make sure the rear brakes (and Emergency brake) are adjusted properly. Make sure the adjusters are installed properly. That the angled slot in the adjuster, matches the angle on the shoe. With the E-brake adjustment backed off, adjust the trailing shoe first. Adjust the adjuster until the wheel won't turn, AT ALL. Now loosen the adjuster 4-6 notches. Wheel should turn with maybe just a little drag. Now adjust the front shoe, the same way. Adjust the wheel on the other side, the same way. Now you are ready to adjust the E-brake cables. Raise the handle 4-6 notches. NO more. Now start tightening the cables, keeping them about equal, until you can't turn the wheels by hand. the E-brake is now adjusted, and you are ready to bleed the rear brakes. Start with the rear of the car as high as you can get it, so that any air in the lines will rise towards the wheels.
