<x-charset iso-8859-1>Only one part number is quoted for Type 3 and it's a Beetle one, 113 415 835. If there are two sizes, this doesn't make sense. The joints are different from '68 - maybe that's where the confusion lies. I've not got old ones to check if the taper is different. My '59 Beetle has narrow taper tie-rod ends, and the part number above isn't a modified one, so it may be the old style. I seem to recall reading that the tie-rod ends changed with discs to some with less friction (or was it more?) and they are shown by the raised top. Maybe the seals didn't change, but if Jim finds the replacement boots are too tight, I'm sure that's true. I've obtained replacements from classic car sources that fit OK; don't know what British car they fit though. Dave.
