Re : [T3]Greasing rear wheels, installed greasers

I installed the greasers because I have always had problems
with the front wheel drive front sealed bearings failing.
I had the same problem with two Fiat X-19's that had rear engines
and rear sealed bearing setups. After rains here in the Mexico
side of California, bearings failed when the old seals let water
in while driving daily in a foot of water and in some places
really gritty muddy water, third world roads you know. Only
when there is a little rain. I know I am bruttal when in
Mexico and too fast in the States.

This has happened to my 4 brothers and their water cooled VW's
and Audi's . I decided to place greasers on some sealed bearing
cars and never had to replace or worry about outside water pressure
pushing through worn bearing seals.

I know our aircooled cars are different from these sealed
bearings setups because unlike those other types, we can
remove seales and restore them.

I am not very keen on cleaning and regreasing this rear arm
assembly every 60,000 miles because it was not easy to
take apart and press out components, even though I
have the equipment . This would mean that I would have to
take this apart almost every year since I drive a whole
lot of miles.

Even though I work on cars alot, I really do not like to
repair and maintain them, I just like to drive them
wherever I want to. I have broken many many cars, broken
cranks, rods through blocks, you name it I broke it by
going too fast and towing off road, In the middle of nowhere
in Mexico(no roads even)while engine failing and bad
wheather comming , I had to use kerosine because of no gas
available to get out of very secluded places. Try to
visualize 50 miles from the nearest civilization
with a broken axil or a failed EFI on a Bronco, very long
walk to the nearest shack.

I know I am into self inflicting by being so hazardously
free. This has left me paranoid about breakdowns so I usually
perform overkill on my maintenence .

I do not know if too much grease hurts these rear bearings but
all I know that if my seals fail because of grit or normal
wear, I can just pump in some grease and let it ooz out a little ,
like the ball joints. I remember when my upper arms were
lubed by crunchy chunks of rust with no sign of grease.
Any how that is how very big and boat trailer roller bearings
are greased, by grease nipples at the dust caps.

I love dependability and low maint cars. I have been told to
just buy a new car. After 17,000 dollars and three years, I will
be working on a hard to fix car and......NOT.

RAMBLE RAMBLE RAMBLE, SORRY.
