It's not part of the steering. It's the upper torsion bar in the front axle beam. It attaches to the upper trailing arms on each side: The left side is a "fixed" attachment and the right one is adjustable, but the left one sometimes works loose and lets things wobble. The test for this is to have someone grab the top of either front wheel while you watch from below. They should push & pull hard while you look at the point where the upper trailing arm comes out of the axle beam. If you can see the trailing arm moving in and out of the axle beam by any visible amount then it is possible that the left fixing screw has worked itself loose. If there is just the tiniest amount of motion this is probably normal play, but it won't hurt to pull off the wheel, loosen the locknut, and torque the set screw. The Bentley manual has pictures and details. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
