<x-charset iso-8859-1> The head temperature gauge set is made by VDO and consists of a meter which reads from 0 to 600 degrees and a sensor that by design is supposed to be mounted under the sparkplug . The center temp is 350 degrees and I am told by the sand rail comunity down here that 350 degrees is optimum temps (measured where , plug, bolt ? I did not ask). As you know on my previous e-mail, I modified the sensor location. The gauge/meter part requires no power except for the light. The meter runs by the voltage created by the thermo coupler based head temp sensor. Electricity is created when heat is present at the sensor. As you know, I used two sensors by using a double gang switch. I can help you with that if you get that far. This enables me to use one meter and switch to one head temp at a time. You can get these almost in any VW catalog or VW parts store or a parts store that sells VDO products. Prices vary greatly. I got mine from a local store that ordered thru Bugpack . Here is a bike site that has a good close up picture. http://www.aerocharger.com/mcaccs.htm Check this place out, they sell the meter and senders http://www.bugsandbuggies.com/vdo_main.asp http://www.bugsandbuggies.com/vdo_mult.asp?Type=Cylinder_Head_Temp&Series=Se ries1 http://www.bugsandbuggies.com/vdo_send.asp?Sender=Cyl_Head These guys also sell them http://www.bus-boys.com/bbvdo.htm http://www.nhspeedometer.com/series1.htm LEON MARTINEZ 1969 SQUAREBACK EFI/AUTO SAN DIEGO AND TIJUANA -----Original Message----- From: Schwein, William [mailto:William.Schwein@bankofamerica.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2002 10:12 AM To: martinezl@ftscpac.navy.mil Subject: RE: [T3] My engine update (head sensor) Can you tell me more about these heat sensors please?
