It may just be the uppers which have the spring loading; I always have to read the Bentley. I think there were early and late sizes, with different sized shafts where they went thru the steering knuckles, and I don't have any experience with the early ones. Once you figure out which ones are supposed to have the springs, you can test them by compressing them axially in a vice. The good ones compress a couple of mm and spring back, the cheap ones don't give, and will be loose as soon as they wear a bit. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
