[T3] "Where's Toby?", part II

<x-charset iso-8859-1>Okay, I'll be eligible for my eight week sabbatical this summer.  Since Plan
A isn't feasible I'm beginning planning for Plan B:  A boy, his Squareback,
and their adventures traveling across the United States.  Let's hope this
doesn't become a drama or mystery, okay?

Anyway, I plan to begin my journey in the late summer/early fall (Sept?)
because I want some nice weather but not so hot as to make my travels all
stinky-sweaty.  I know what summer is like on the east coast and in the
south and I do not like it.  I certainly don't plan on taking the full eight
weeks, either!  (I hope to use part of it -- money willing -- to drive up to
Alaska and visit some friends.)  My goal is to see the Statue of Liberty
while she's still standing.  Along the way I would like to see some of
America's sights (Yosemite, Rushmore, Jake Kooser, etc.) and, of course,
fellow T3 listees!

So, assuming a somewhat northern route to get to NY and a somewhat southern
route to come home, what are some of the places y'all recommend I see.  I
won't have a lot of money since this is all coming out of my pocket so let's
be reasonable.  Time is somewhat of a factor as well, but if John Jaranson
insists that we put my baby in Ford's windtunnel for testing, well, I think
the sacrifice would be worth it ;)  I have seen the Grand Canyon so I won't
be taking that particular tour.  If any of you want to meet let me know
where you live (city, zip code) so I can see where it will eventually fall
when I make my route.  It would also be helpful incase I have car problems.
I have camping hinges (just need to install them) so I'm thinking of hitting
camping spots for sleep.
