Sorry guys, but I have to put in my two cents here! I am deeply enthralled with the DARKSIDE, but vintage darkside stuff is just as cool. It is not easy to find these parts or someone that really knows how to use them. I have a friend that really went through alot of time and money to have an Okrasa engine built for his vintage darkside cabriolet. It is really cool!! Just standing there listening to it makes you feel the presence of all the old hot-rodders. I can't let go of all the patience and knowledge (and blood, sweat, and tears) that these guys put into the scene 30 years ago. From a technical side, the increase in displacement from 1585cc to 1679cc is only 6%. I don't think it is to much to ask of a set of single port heads and a single side draft carb to compensate for this. Plus with the higher ratio rockers and different cam, the port velocity would be increasing, which would fill the cylinders better and increase the throttle response because of the small port heads. The restriction with the heads will only be felt probably above 5,000rpm which is seldom seen on a daily driver or even street car. I am one of those guys that likes to drive hard and be the first one to the next light, but even I don't do it on a continuous basis. On another note, you can't build this engine for that kind of money, even using quality parts that don't say "EMPI". I would love to have this engine, but I don't have the correct car for it and I also would not want it to be my only VW. NICE!!! I love it!!! Wish I could have it!!!
