<x-charset iso-8859-1>hello. with the air cleaner removed and the engine at idle look into the rich running side if you see any fuel coming out of the nozzle just below your choke then your float level is a little too high. you can rectifie this by putting another fibre washer under the needle valve. take your idle screws out remove the springs now screw them back in to get a feel how far it is before the bottom out go easy when you feel a positive stop then stop. measure the gap between the black adjusting knob and the throttle butterfly housing also count the turns on the way out. do your adjusting screws come to a nice even point both sides the same the tips have often been broken off by over zealous screwing in. refit the adjusting screws with the springs back on you can now tell if you can get them all the way in or not. i personally prefer the idle adjusting screws that require use of a small screwdriver as it allows more feel . you will be safe to leave these springs out so long as your careful working in that area at other times i.e. changing your plugs not to disturb your settings. turn out two full turns for your starting point. metal intake gaskets can only really be used once but they are fine and cheap enough to work this way. 1966 typ 3 sqr with fitted irs pan. soon to run 2ltr + typ 4 power. off the speedo in germany if i can. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
