How to find any advance timing mark on pulley using simple math. Without
doing any math at all!
We all know: 2nd timing mark is 10 deg Bef Top Dead Center, BTDC.
Now measure distance from TDC to this 2nd mark: you get 1.8mm.
Therefore: every 1.8mm will give you 10 BTDC. If you want 20 BTDC: you
need 2 X 1.8, gives you 3.6 mm from TDC.
If you want 30 BTDC, you need 3 X 1.8, gives you
5.4mm.

By now the pattern is obvious: all you have to do is multiply by 18.
Here's your final test question: Find distance for 25 deg BTDC.
25 X 18 = 450 You got it! 4.5mm Easier done than said.

Take a litle piece of paper and mark off 5.4 mm on the edge. Lay it on the
pulley and mark the pulley for the 30 deg BTDC.

Many also noticed that since 18 adds up to 9. Then, anything multiplied
by 18 has to add up to 9. If it dosen't, you made a mistake.
Have fun and pass it along. Claude, Utah, 68 Square
