The static timing is fine to get the timing close, but you should refine it
with the stroboscopic timing light so you can watch the total advance.  If
you have a regular stroboscopic timing light (i.e., without the
dial-an-advance feature), you can just paint a 30-degree mark right on your
pulley.  A little dab of Liquid Paper 5.4 cm to the right of the TDC mark
will be your 30-deg BTDC mark.
