There's not much to go on here, but my first guess is that it's something rattling that just happens to resonate when a certain combination of things happen. I would start by checking out all the cooling tin fastening screws to make sure that everything is securely tied down. The same might apply to fender mounting bolts and even seat hardware, including back seats. Another common rattle is the heat shield on the stock muffler if one end rusts loose. I chased a similar rattle for years until I discovered that one of the little elbows that delivers fresh air into the heater mixing boxes was missing its attachment screw. I've since found this on another car. Both were 71s, on the right side, I think, so I suspect that there was a particular person on the assembly line who couldn't keep up unless he left that screw out. Speaking of interesting assembly line facts: Who can tell us where on your type 3 you are likely to find one or two of the little white plastic plugs that your rear brake wheel cylinders were shipped with before the brake lines were installed?
