RE: Tire Sizes

Information for the list members asking about tire sizes and clearance
factors:

I am one of those who likes slightly smaller tires on the front of my car.
I have had 145's on the front for about 10 years and have never been totally
satisfied with handling and steering. In addition, when I have a passenger
in the car, I have clearance and rubbing problems with 15" tires. My car
has dropped spindles on the front (about 2") with the suspension in the
stock position to maintain good geometry. The back of the car is stock
height and my wheels are Empi-style eight spoke wheels that are 5.5" wide.

I recently purchased a set of 155/55 H15 Continentals from CSP, USA. They
are a bit pricey, but offer a big improvement in handling and with no
clearance or rubbing problems what so ever. The speedo is inaccurate with
smaller diameter tires, but after calibrating my speed, I have no problems
knowing how fast I'm going. The back tires are 195/60 15 Michelin's and
clear the fenders perfectly.

If any list members wish to have pictures of the front and rear
wheels/tires, I'd be glad to send them directly to anyone making a request.
