There was an early version of the torque converter that changed to one with more fins during the 69 MY. The early one was under engineered and had problems with cracks at the welds as well as not cooling well enough for towing. The later torque converter is a drop in replacement and is a worthy upgrade for ANY AT type 3 that still has one of the old ones (many were replaced underwarrantee,) especially one that might be driven hard, like for towing. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
