Check the valve adjustment. Remove the spark plugs and the oil pressure sender and crank the engine with the starter until oil comes out of the sender hole. Install the sender and then crank again until the oil light goes out. Install the spark plugs and then start the engine. On the first start, don't just let it idle and don't rev it too high, but just keep changing the engine speed. Keep an eye on the oil light. After 5-20 minutes, stop and change the oil while the oil is hot. Let it cool completely and check the valves again. When first driving it, vary the speed and engine RPM and don't let it just sit and idle for long periods. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
