The AT cars get the backup light power from the dash via the neutral safety switch in the shift lever assy., rather than from the coil. The wire and fuse from the coil should go to the kickdown switch and then on to the kickdown solenoid in the AT. As far as the non-working backup light goes, it sounds like yours have been rewired a bit, but they should still work this way.
