Assuming that this is the little washer in the mech advance, I replace them 
with nylon washers. They are there to keep the parts moving smoothly. Steel 
would be more likely to rust. If the 67 dist is vac adv only, then you mean the 
big fiber washer, and i don't have any source for those. I think they soak up a 
bit of oil and keep things from wearing against each other.

Almost anything will work. It took your old grease a couple of decades to 
gum up. I use something with moly disulfide in it where there is sliding 
friction. Remember that the mech advance dists need a drop of oil on the felt 
washer in the top of the dist shaft every so often.
