<x-charset iso-8859-1>>I know wheel painting was discussed a while ago, but I don't remember any reference or hints on the application of two tone paint. I need to have some wheels repainted that are pearl white around the rim and black on the hub/inside section. I was going to have them powdercoated, but I don't think two-toning is possible with the way powdercoating works. A friend suggested having them powdercoated all black, then just sand and paint the outer rim with the correct Pearl White. What does everybody think about this method? If anyone has another solution, please let me know! > I don't think 2-toning is possible, either. I have been told they can do the fronts one color and backs another but it is done in 2 passes, at almost twice the cost. For the early Buses, the whole rim was painted black, then the faces were painted Pearl White. People who restore the wheels often powdercoat the entire rim Satin Black or a mixture of 80% gloss black. They then paint the face Pearl White. I have heard this works well so I don't see why you couldn't do something similar. My brother had his friend 2-tone his Bus rims, they just painted the entire rim white, then created a cone to do the center that they shot paint into, it came out exactly as intended. His friend is a professional painter. No powdercoating involved.
