<x-charset iso-8859-1>What's the problem fitting it like that? (Do you want to fit it all?) Usually the studs fit, though the lower exchangers may need a bit of persuasion; loosening the fronts of those is sometimes easier than getting movement on the upper exchanger joint. If you end up having to cut the exhaust off, the 46mm nut is the same as the bus rear hub, so a good socket and heat should do the trick. I've a spare open-ended 46mm, but you should be able to find a non-metric that will do as well or better. If the muffler has to be destroyed, I suppose it may be worth thinking of cutting the pipe out of the box - not sure offhand what it does inside - I think there could be a perforated pipe inside the box. I've saved my last old VW muffler, holes and all, so I'll try to do a dissection on it and measure things up. Maybe I've missed the first part of this thread - maybe I've missed a few posts. Greg, what happens if the list tries to send to an e-mail account that's closed (even for a few hours)? I can obviously get to the website and collect ones missed. I've clearly not been unsubscribed to Type 3.org, but I think Yahoo e-groups has removed me from that. Dave.
