Hello Kris, The bar is an accident reinforcement. I also have one for my 68 fasty. I think they may have been on the 67's also. If you look at the link in my signature you can see the holes where the bumper cushion (u-bar) is. Send me pics of your car and I can display them on my webshots account. Later man and welcome.
