I've never heard of the Essen model, but it appears to have the right bands for use in the US. It has the correct type 3 face plate, but it does not have the mounting bracket or the vinyl shroud for the usual type 3 under dash mount. He says it is for a type 34; does the type 34 mount IN the dash? If so, this is exactly what the type 34 needs. To use this in another type 3 you would need to fabricate a mounting bracket (not too hard) and a shroud (might be challenging.) The price is reasonable, but it won't stay there. He's also selling an earlier model, see: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=601993720 This one has the separate power amp unit, but has the wrong face plate for our cars. Note: When these radios were sold new, you chose the model of radio you wanted, and also bought the mounting kit for your car. The mounting kit included everything you needed to make this radio work in your car, so it included the face plate, knobs, brackets, screws, etc. The antenna was separate. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
