It was an extremely rust free and sound vehicle that by rights I should have kept for myself but I already have to many vehicles and I need to keep a family going, too. Bare in mind, too, that if hadn't bought it that little Type3 would have been to the crushers by now - a shocking waste. However, since your E-mail, I have checked out shipping costs between eastern Australian ports and Los Angeles. To ship a Type3 notchback in a container shared with some other vehicles would cost AU$1470 which is about US$740 plus a AU$50 (US$25) documentation fee. And, just a further example of what is available here in the way of early notchbacks here is one that is currently for sale: 1963 notchback with pushbutton and wraparound dash, seat backrest release cables in front door pillars, single carburettor motor, Australian- assembled right hand drive, resprayed blue in original colour but with front seats replaced by Subaru highbacks. Chassis: 0216181 Engine: 0270078 Checking my lists shows me that both car and engine were made in July 1963. So, the motor could be original. I don't know how much detailed documentation there is on it. It is kept indoors. The owner has been advertising it for two months now and it is still not sold. He is asking AU$1800 or about US$920 for it. I've talked to him on the phone. I have attached a bad picture of it which I scanned from the newspaper. (If any other Type3 Listees would like to see this picture, please E-mail me.) Regards, Simon Glen.
