I don't know much, but I have been told that in the late model Type 3s there 
front fender area is different from earlier models and the area around where 
the front fender attaches to the body (near the windshield area) had some 
sort of drain holes that clogged and eventually caused the cars to rust 
badly in these areas.  I'm sure somebody else in the community can help.
