I would imagine 2.5 liters of oil is for a bone dry engine completely and totally drained of oil? My jetta never takes the full capacity in an oil change. Of course, I don't wait a half hour waiting for it to drain completely, but I usually drain it warm and then put another clean 1/2 quart through to "push" some more old oil out of the pan... Still, if I put the full stated capacity it would be a bit over. I actually did that once and had to drain a little more out.
