They have plastic pins in the centre that push four lugs outwards on the back of the panel to 'rivet' the clip to the body skin. If the panel was still in place and inaccessible from the rear, you could probably get most of them off by gripping with pliers and pulling straight from the body (same with rocker trim but bigger). Since you can get behind, just push the pins right through with a small nail (or pin punch). You simply refit from the front when the clip part is in the hole again. Dave.
