Wuzmop=> It's gotta be better than all that insulation => dust getting on my motor. If that's the main problem, it's hard to imagine fixing it with some new foil, as the fibers will continue to deteriorate and work their way out anyway. I removed all the original insulation and replaced it with some foil-backed cotton rag insulation bought from JC Whitney. Cut it larger than the lid, trim off insulation to leave a flap of foil all around, button it to the lid (I used upholstery adhesive as well; if you don't want to remove the topside insulation, skip the buttons -- but pull 'em out and save 'em for later!) and tuck the flap in around the edges.
