JimA=> They could be either type 1 or type 3 They could also be for either 4- or 5-lug wheels. The inner diameter of a 5-lug ring is just a little larger than a 4-lug cap, so they don't mix. Variations in number and shape of holes identify them for Type 1 or Type 3, and there are a couple of further variations for Type 34s, plus the various pattern options, especially in the very early years. All this makes it hard to know whether a given set of rings found at a swap meet or somewhere is correct for your car. And if you do find trim rings you like in good condition, don't forget that you need the special hubcap puller and lever that came with the car's tool kit -- otherwise you'll mess up the ring the first time you try to pull a cap.
