I cut a hole in the firewall for the inlet side of the fan so that when the fan was in operation the air was recirculated. This did a wonderful job of heating the interior even in 5F to 10F weather with a bad heater channel. As a matter of fact, I had to shut it off sometimes when the car got too hot inside (when the weather was in the 20s and 30s). The drawback is cutting the hole.
