I never had THAT much advance... at the time I was running a stock 71 FI
system and set the timing at stock... I had knocking and pinging when I got
into a bad tank of gas... I finally found I could no longer run 87 octane in
the stock square or it would knock on the highway at speed... even under
moderate throttle.

I seem to have had no damage... that was 10 years ago and about 70Kmi ago,
but knocking in our motors is indeed a very BAD thing!!
