You should just buy new calipers." Well, he's both right and wrong. He's right that just taking apart the old caliper and simply putting in the new parts will seldom cure your problems. He's wrong that old calipers can't be rebuilt with good results. There is also the problem that the new calipers are not of the same quality as the OE ones, so the OE ones are DEFINITELY worth saving. The difference is that experience and skill is required to do this. You CAN do it yourself if you are motivated and willing to perhaps do it over again if you make mistakes, but for most people I recommend that you pay me to do it.
