i did make sure that all the wires were running to the correct cylindars 
and further i pulled the spark plug (in no 2 for ease) to find TDC with 
the marks on the pulley and so i think that is correct as well. but...i am 
no expert.

if it were in 180 would it run at all? i can get it to idle but only while 
feathering, and it sounds right...

if my non-photographic memory serves me, the no1 mark on the dist. is 
(about) 10 o'clock (back of car being 6, and roughly speaking)
