<x-flowed>When you push in the clutch the throw-out bearing rides on the pressure plate, generally the first place that people think of when there is a noise. Dont forget that during this time, the tranny input shaft is no longer turning at the same speed as the engine, so the pilot bearing/bushing is also turing around the tranny input shaft.

not replace the gland nut, but i still have a noise when the clutch is >pressed in. i, too, have an oil leak i cannot trace (lots o oil under >there, wheres it coming from?) and cannot stop.

As it turns out, the gland nut may have been the noisy culprit! It was
spraying oil all over my clutch plates - which would also explain the oil
