<x-flowed>Before I got my car on the road 7 years ago I rebuilt the Auto tranny and 
cleaned the valve assembly all out.  Ever since we got it together, though, 
it has done that pausing thing.  That has never really concerned me, but 
this problem that makes so that I take off the line slower than a full 
gravel truck with a full trailor concerns me greatly.  Hard to trouble-shoot 
when the flex plate is disconnected, anyway.  Obviously the problem could 
still lie in the valve assembly, but I suspect the pump, as it has gotten 
worse in the last couple years.  I'm wondering if these laborious take-offs 
could be causing the flex plate failure...

P.S.  As I pull up to park next to the Squareback it just stares at me with 
puppy dog eyes.  I swear it's longing for my attention.  I just can't stay 
mad at it.
