<x-charset iso-8859-1> Putting DOT 3 in a reservoir filled with DOT 4 or vice versa should not be a problem , they mix well together and the car did not come with DOT 4 when it was new. The boiling point for both is in line with what our car can use, the only caution I can give you is not using used brake fluid, even if it looks clean, water may be in it, lowering the boiling point, how do I know ? .... I do not know (big truck towing down hill, much knashing of teeth, bad dreams...). T he higher the DOT number the higher the fluid saftey characteristics, thus less knashing of teeth.
