<x-charset iso-8859-1>> Nevertheless, Type 1 and Type 3 engines are the same. The Type 1 simply has the oil cooler mounted vertically, while the Type 3 has it mounted horizontally. In addition, theres a hole to plug up when making a Type1 engine outa a Type 3. And there's the oil filler spout. That's it. I wouldn't have believed it either, if I hadn't seen it. > Ok, then I recommend you upgrade all your upright engines to use the Type 3 cooler. The increased surface area of the Type 3 oil cooler will help keep the engine cooler in the Texas heat. Good luck bolting it up to your 36hp engines. There is a little more than you mentioned to *correctly* converting a Type 3 engine to a Type 1 configuration - remove cool tin, change heater boxes, change muffler, dipstick, generator stand, etc., etc.. -- Everett Barnes everettb@thesamba.com ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ </x-charset>
