<x-charset iso-8859-1>I thought the difference between t1 and t3 cooling effectiveness was in the air flow direction and the position of the oil cooler? I'm not too familiar with the T1, but I understand that it forces the air down over the cylinders and the oil cooler is in a better position to block less air to #3. Whereas the T3 flows air over the tops and then redirects it around underneath. The hotspot that results is in between the cylinders on each side, and although there is tin to get air in there it just not as good as the T1 downward flow. This being the main reason many suggest not going too large on cylinder diameter in a T3 becuase you reduce the flow between cylinders even further. The T1 of course has this problem too, but since it gets more air between there you can go a little larger on cylinder size than the T3. Another effect of a downward flow of air would seem to be that both cylinders on a side get equally cool air for cooling. In a T3 the rearward cylinder warms up the air as it goes by to the forward cylinder so the forward cylinder will not get as much cooling.
