<x-charset iso-8859-1>I'm working on my '66 Fastback project, doing the bodywork and stuff right now, but I'm planning ahead for other parts of the project. I have questions for the members of the list that have done other motor configurations as an alternative to stock. The car came with a case and heads (not ported and polished though) that are ready for 94's. I guess that means if I stick a 69mm crank in there, I'll have a 1915. Many people tell me I should bump it up a bit with a stroker crank. And some people have said that I should run it as an upright T-1, a few say I should build it as a 1915 and keep the T3 configuration. A few people have said go T4, but I don't really want to do that because I have no experience with that motor configuration, and I really think that I've got my hands full as it s. -Besides I'd like to keep it as interchangeable as possible with my Square and stuff. I want to be able to build the motor myself (aside of machine work), I want it to be fairly reliable, and I want it to be fun to drive. I'm not worried about keeping a heater on it. My budget is not really an issue here... I'll just take longer to build it if I can justify the cost. Plenty of people tell me that if I build it right and take care of it, I can make a big motor last plenty long, and I know I'm gonna get conflicting opinions on this, but then that's why I'm asking. :-) Okay, that being said... I know there are gonna be some other answers that I need to give so let me know if I left something out. What I actually want to know is, would I be better off with a T1 upright configuration in my fastback, or a T3 configuration on the big motor. We know it's gonna be at least a 1915. Any other recommendations for the motor to keep it both fun and drivable? Thanks everyone!
