This is rather common and the easiest way to deal with it is to just turn the key ON and OFF a few times to fill the lines before trying to start the engine. If it is particularly bad you can add a pushbutton switch that will run the pump without cycling the key. The problem is usually caused by gas boiling after the engine is shut down, leaving the system empty for the next startup. Try this test: After shutting down for the day, go inside and let the car cool down for a few hours. Go out and restart it just before you go to bed, but let it run just long enough to smooth out, a minute or less. The next morning if it starts right up this is your probem. If this didn't help, then you have a different problem and will need to look into it some more. In either case, any gas leak is a bad thing and will make this problem worse. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
