<x-charset iso-8859-1>Phil, If I remember my engine basics correctly, there is only one TDC point at which both the intake and exhaust are closed. When I was rocking the car back and forth to find the right timing, I thought I had it lined up right until I went under the car to check the valves. With the marks lined up, the exhaust was closed but the intake was open on the #1 (I was near TDC, so one valve or the other would have been open.) When I rotated the engine around to the marks again, I checked the valves, and both valves were closed enough that there was lash in the rockers. With this in mind, I'm going to triple check that everything is lined up tomorrow, and then try the static timing thing, if I can find the procedure. I've been so spoiled by electronic ignition...
