I have a rewound 6V generator, done by Kymco about four years ago. It works
fine.

Pro: it fits when you do the conversion; you don't have to change the fan
shroud

Cons: somewhat higher expense; the generator probably doesn't have quite as
much output compared with a stock 12V unit; finding someone competent to do
it

Possible alternative: I've heard that the stock 12V unit for Porsche 356
will fit, no confirmation
