<x-flowed>A generator works off the principle (I forget the name of it off hand) that if current is moving through a wire, that creates a magnetic field around the wire. If you move a wire through a magnetic field you create current in the wire. If you increase the number of turns that are moving through the magnetic field then you increase the amount of electricity generated. As to the question as to why it would be unreliable, im not sure, but I can come up with a couple of guesses. You would have to use thinner wire to get more turns in the same amount of space, and I dont imagine that there is a lot of spare room inside the gen to add turns of wire. I would NOT let someone take my working generator thats in the car to essentially expirement on it attempting to put more windings on it. I would say if you are willing to fork out money for another 6V gen, then you could give it a go. >In a search I found one mention of being able to "rewind" or convert a 6v >generator to increase it's output to 12v, it was stated that this was >"unreliable" Can anyone comment pro or con as to why I would or would not >want or be able to do this? _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org </x-flowed>
