Re: [T3] 'Pickup' on Speedo Cable

<x-charset iso-8859-1>> I hope someone can enlighten me -I had the Speedo out on my 68 Automatic
fastback & there is an unusual black 'pickup' mounted on the back of the
Speedo (The speedo cable goes into this pickup which is screwed on the back
of the Speedo) I has 2 wires coming from it which lead into the wiring harness.
I cannot find it on my wiring diagrams.

It's an optional reverse switch, although I don't know why that would be
on a '68? Normally it one wire to a live fusebox terminal (like the radio
fuse position) and one wire that travels back to the reverse light on the
rear bumper.

I had one on my '63 Notchback, German dealer-installed in 1964. The live
connection was stupid because the reverse light would stay on sometimes
unless you rolled the car forward a little after using reverse, which probably
explains why it was disconnected when I bought the car. I swapped it so
it only worked when the key was in the 'on' position.
