Tom Coleman '68 Fastback Bremerton, WA I never noticed any kind of noise from the gauge, but I suppose it might if the needle were being thrown against the end stops hard. Any chance this is happening due to a short somewhere? You might try removing and taping the wire that connects to the sender. That SHOULD make it sit quitely below E; if it still moves there is a short in the wiring, if it is quiet, then there may be a problem in the sender.
