The driver's manual for the Golf Estate TDI* we've just bought has a picture
with 'Variant' on the number plate, but no mention of it in the text - just
calls it an estate.  Pretty respectful, I felt.  ;-)
*  Well, you've got to judge the opposition!  Seems a nice car so far, in
the 0.1% of its previous mileage that we've done so far.  But will it last
another 30 years?
