Not sure what you call it, so I've named it the "dipstick stopper" -- that plastic cylinder that's mounted on the spring-loaded Type III dipstick so that it bottoms out on the filler tube for an accurate oil measurement. So, my "dipstick stopper" is loose and can slide along the dipstick. Can somebody measure the distance from the lower end of the stopper to... o the full mark, o the low mark, and/or o the tip of the dipstick? I suppose I'll effect the repair by cleaning the stopper area with a mild solvent or soap, then glue the stopper in place. What sort of glue would folks recommend?
