Is it possible to use/convert a type 2 engine in a type 3 fastback?

Hugo, yes you can use that motor, but you need to convert the cooling system
over to a type 3 set up or it will eventually fail from overheating. If you
have fuel injection then you might have a problem with the temp sensor as
there is no boss for it to attach it to the motor. I'm running a type 1 motor
that has been coverted to type 3 cooling in my Notch, it has been in there
for over a year with 2 years before that in a squareback, and before that a
couple of years in a fastback. The minor problem is that you have to use the
type1/2 dipstick instead of the type3 dipstick, unless you want to tear down
the motor and have it machined for the type3 dipstick. I hope this helps you
out.
