All you need to replace are the rubber mounting bushings. I have aftermarket 
ones with inch threads for $7/pr or OEM VW ones for $15/pr. Shipping is $5. 
You might be able to find something at a hardware store or your FLAPS.

The original holder was a long thin cotter pin. I have some of those if you 
want one. A good piece of stiff wire works just fine also. If you buy a pair of 
rubber mounts I'd be glad to send along some wire for free.  ;-)
